If you’ve ever met us, you’ve probably figured out pretty quickly that we’re from Texas.

The smiles. The positive attitudes. The fact that we’ll happily strike up a conversation just about anywhere.

Dead giveaway.

People ask us from time to time where we this personality came from.

Fair question.

The answer is simple.

We grew up in Texas.

Not just in Texas—we grew up in the kind of Texas where you said “Yes, ma’am” and “No, sir,” greeted everyone with a cheerful smile, and never met a stranger. You wrote thank-you notes. Gentleman shook hands firmly and held the door for a lady. It taught us to look people in the eye. It was the kind of Texas where important conversations happened face-to-face.

We were those girls.

The identical twins who grew up in Sugar Land under the “Friday Night Lights” cheerleading and wearing those famously oversized Texas homecoming mums at John Foster Dulles High School. The ones who spent weekends country western dancing, perfecting the Texas Two-Step, grabbing a Whataburger, eating entirely too much Tex-Mex and counting down the days until the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Summers were for rope swings over the Guadalupe River, Blue Bell ice cream, and making memories we’d spend the rest of our lives talking about.

We had our first jobs at the neighborhood grocery store, where members of ZZ Top occasionally came through our checkout line. At the time, it seemed perfectly normal.

And yes, we smiled when Buc-ee’s finally made its way to Georgia.

Life was big.

So were the hearts of the people who surrounded us.

Looking back, we realize they were shaping us in ways we didn’t fully appreciate at the time.

Then Came Baylor University

Those years gave us lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, more than a few Dr Peppers—after all, Waco is where it was born—and some important lessons outside the classroom too.

As members of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, we learned the importance of philanthropy, leadership, serving others, and showing up for the people and communities around us.

We discovered that whether someone came from a tiny Texas town or halfway across the country, every was searching for the same thing:

Connection.

Looking back, maybe becoming matchmakers wasn’t such a surprise after all.
When we think about what Texas really gave us, it wasn’t just cowboy boots, Tex-Mex, country music, or a lifelong appreciation for George Strait.

It gave us something far more important.

That everyone has a story.

That listening is just as important as talking.

That kindness is never wasted.

That people remember how you make them feel.

That your word matters.

And that real connection starts when people stop performing and start paying attention.

We didn’t realize it then, but those values were quietly preparing us for the work we would eventually do.

They came with us to Atlanta, into our families, and ultimately into the heart of Atlanta Matchmakers.

People sometimes assume matchmaking is about chemistry, checklists, or finding someone who looks good on paper.

After introducing thousands of singles over the years, we’ve learned something different.

The best relationships almost always begin the old-fashioned way—with curiosity, kindness, laughter, and two people who are genuinely interested in getting to know each other.

Technology has changed.

Dating has certainly changed.

But people?

Not nearly as much as you might think.

Everyone still wants to feel seen.

Everyone still wants to feel chosen.

Everyone still wants someone who says, “Tell me about yourself,” and actually listens to the answer.

Maybe that’s our Texas showing.

And honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Atlanta has been home for many wonderful years. It’s where we’ve built our business, raised our families, and had the privilege of helping thousands of incredible people find meaningful relationships.

But every now and then, a little Texas still sneaks into the conversation.

A cheerful “Hey y’all.”

A Willie Nelson song playing in the background.

A craving for chicken fried steak or a great margarita.

Growing up in the Lone Star State gave us an optimism that’s hard to explain. Texas-sized optimism. Texans have always believed there isn’t much we can’t do. We dream big and tend to believe almost anything is possible.

So why wouldn’t we believe we can help two wonderful

people find each other—and fall in love?

Because you really can take the girls out of Texas…

But you can’t take the Texas out of the girls.

Here’s Our Advice

The places that shape us become part of who we are.

For us, Texas instilled values that still guide us every day—hospitality, kindness, respect, authenticity,

and the belief that every meaningful relationship begins with a genuine conversation.

Dating trends will come and go. Apps will change. Technology will evolve.

But treating people well, listening with intention, and leading with kindness never go out of style.

Date smarter.
